Microfinance was a hot topic this week on the Stanford campus as actress Natalie Portman came to share her experiences working with FINCA International, a microfinance organization operating with over 600,000 clients around the world! Great to see Hollywood stars use their influence to spread the word about making social impact!

Site update and Starter Kit (beta, v0.1, etc.) coming in five days. It's 27 pages long. Double-sided. But it's shiny, so we think you'll like it. Oh, and we'll be launching the blog too. No more one-line updates: Gumball's about to blow some bubbles. (Big pink ones.)

We're updating our process for disbursing the original E-Week pledges! Starting today, we will loan $25 to each entrepreneur we assist through Kiva, regardless of the overall size of their loan or percentage unfulfilled. This allows us to diversify our portfolio of entrepreneurs as well as distribute our remaining funds more quickly. (It will not affect future funds from the Gumball Challenge.)

Don't worry, it's exploding behind the scenes. Our team has spent the last two weeks working hard on solidifying our message and building out Gumball Capital's infrastructure. An expanded mission and website will appear soon.

We completed our campus canvassing operations yesterday, but the online donations are still coming in. And we're finalists in the Stanford Entrepreneurship Week Challenge thanks to you! Come watch our presentation tomorrow in Hewlett 200 (where?), from 4:00-5:30PM.

We've passed $3000 from almost 300 donors, in three days. The response has been phenomenal. Someone suggested we ask people in line at Subway to donate, with this line: "Why don't you donate that cookie money to help a woman in Ecuador open a bakery? Then you'd be getting thousands of cookies!"
